SA PA: A VISUAL JOURNEY AROUND THIS VIETNAMESE HILL STATION
SA PA: A VISUAL JOURNEY AROUND THIS VIETNAMESE HILL STATION
A year ago to the week, following a successful expedition to make the first known wing suit/BASE in Northern Vietnam, esteemed writer Johnny Langenheim and I took a 6hr taxi ride to the magical town of Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province.
Sa Pa is notable as a hill resort and market centre for the local ethnic Hmong, including the Red, Black, Green and Flower Hmong. Located across the Muong Hoa Valley from Vietnam's highest mountain, Fansipan (forever known by us as 'fancypants'), the city is sometimes referred to as the "queen of mountains". Sporadically shrouded in a mist that rises from the rice fields below, there was something beautifully intriguing about this town.
